~France Week~ Day 5: Demographics, National Symbols, and Weather

Yesterday: France: Holidays, Customs, and Fashion

France is one of the biggest countries in Europe and has a large population as well! Tourists from all over the world flock there every year to embrace and enjoy its culture. With amazing landmarks, delicious food, and an air of romance whats not to love? France is one of the oldest nations in the world and also one of the most ethnically diverse. It's a country of artists and lovers creating beautiful things every day. Hopefully we get to visit one day!

Serenity drew a picture of the French Flag and we talked about a few of the symbols that represent this country. For instance the Fleur de lis (flower, lily) which is associated with French monarchy and heritage. The French National motto is: Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité which stands for Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. A beautiful motto to have! Lastly we discussed the national anthem: "La Marseillaise."

The weather in France is consistently mild and wonderful but that depends on where you are in France. Some areas can be down right chilly even in July. It has many mountainous regions that stay on the colder side through out the year. When it rains in parts of France flooding becomes a big issue, at times it becomes a down right disaster! I found some footage on YouTube of a recent flood that left casualties in its wake.

Thank you for following along this week as we discovered new things, and enjoyed a new culture. Next week Serenity starts summer camp so we won't start a new culture until the week after that. Once we do please check back in with us. I will also try to make a few posts about her summer camp experience!!
