Mom-ing in 2016 part 1

Being a mom in 2016 is like having a delicate little butterfly and putting it in a box with holes in it. You are afraid. You are afraid of the outside world influencing this small fragile creature. afraid that the thing you love most will be hurt or changed by the big bad "unknown". Why? Because the media, social and world wide alike, tells you that horrible things will happen if you give any freedom to your "butterfly". They will be kidnapped, attacked, killed. They will get lost or be forever changed.

Mount Scott Exploration in Lawton, Oklahoma

Some trips are stressful. You get caught up in obligations, family drama, and you weaken under the pressure. This happened to me during a recent trip to Oklahoma for my sister's wedding. While trying to create a beautiful memory things started going wrong...one thing after another until it became a tangled mess.

So what did my little family of three need to do? We needed to get away and take a quiet moment for ourselves. We went out to Lawton, Oklahoma and drove up Mount Scott. Once we got up there we began exploring and climbing down and over boulders and chasms and letting ourselves get lost in the adventure of it.

Songs That Stick...

I listen to many many different genres of music and in many different languages. Some songs just have his overwhelming ability to lodge themselves into your head and play over and over again. Getting rid of them can be so difficult...but sometimes you don't really want to get rid of them. Some songs that stick are fun to sing over and over again. Here's a few favorites that I love to keep stored in my brain...

Confessions of a PTA Mom

1) We get together once a month...and yes there is A LOT of trivial stuff to go over...most of us just nod along until we get to the source of why we decided to get up, put on "outside clothes", and sit through the mundane talk.
